iOS 7 Siri and Map Apps in Cars Near You
According to a report by 9 to 5 Mac, Apple is working hard on being a major part of vechile infotainment. They want to integrate the iOS7 Siri and maps applications directly into car consoles. Apple says the voice-activated navigation system will find it’s presence in cars later this year.
Currently, Gm’s Chevy Spark and Sonic utilizes the 11 month old Siri Eyes Free for cars. This iOS6 version lets drivers send texts to anyone in their contact list, access their calendar and play music from their itunes library, with Siri’s voice command via the Chevrolet MyLink system.
By integrating the iOS7 apps directcly onto the console, manufactuers can install a voice command Siri button right onto the steering wheel, taking hands free to a higher level. No more fussing with the dashboard of button flicking stations, ask Siri for directions, access your contacts, send texts and more.
Soon the Land Rover, Audi, Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, and Jaguar may jump on board linking Siri with their vehicles. Apple is still working towards fine tuning their Maps application for vehicles and blue tooth integration.
